Dieter Rams is one of the most influential industry designers of modern times. His design objectives are a striking profile, appropriateness of materials and ease of use. Rams adopts the eternally inherited mentality of German functionalism – from Cistercian monasteries to Schinkel and from Bauhaus to the Ulm College of Design – and defined both the post-war design objective and design standard.
The Suntory Museum in Osaka honours Dieter Rams with a one-off exhibition. From 15 November until 25 January 2009 “Less and More – The Design Ethos of Dieter Rams” presents selected pieces highlighting Rams’ design credo “less is more”. This exhibition presents an overall view of master designer Dieter Rams’ work from the past to the present.
