  03.09.-12.02.2012, Ea Bertrams "Fremdkörpernah", Nürtingen/Germany

Ea Bertram created a very complex space installation for the Domnick collection, depicting a house within a house, which was made using (burkhardt leitner’s) constructiv pila petite. A black-in black, ghost lighted, rampantly growing spatial totality of wall paintings, video projection and writing, as well as knit work and different kinds of pendants expect the visitor. These pendants were made from rubber, horse hair, wool and fur amongst other materials. The observer feels placed into the inside of a body, which attracts and alienates at the same time: Fremdkörpernah’ (Fremdkörper= foreign body; nah= close/ close to). Due to the great reception and interest by the visitors the exhibition is/was extended until the 8th January 2012. The award-winning film “ohne datum” (engl.: without a date) by Ottomar Domnick, which played a major role in the artistic process Ea Bertrams experienced with the exhibition venue and the conceptual design of her ‘dark room’, was shown as part of the exhibition.

The artist, who was born in Stuttgart in 1964 and who graduated from the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, may be hailed as a discovery. Her imagery is of an unusual expressiveness, while her programme - realized with the use of media such as painting, drawing, sculpture, video and photography is of exceptional stringency and seriousness.
